Cook Is. Church Assembly

A plan to send the former president of the National Council of Churches, the Very Rev. M. W. Wilson, of Christchurch, to the Assembly of the Cook Islands Church later this year, would not now be possible, the general-secretary of the council (the Rev. D. M. Taylor) said yesterday.

the decision not to send a delegate had been made after it was found that it would take from five to seven weeks travelling to attend the conference on the Island of Mitiaroa, which would only last a few ,days. No suitable representative could be found in New Zealand who could afford to spend this amount of time away from his work, said Mr Taylor.
