“Open House” At Mission
An “open house," provid- ! ing an opportunity for rest, f games, conversation, contem- ! plation, and light meals, is , being planned at Friendship I House, Cambridge Terrace, by the Christchurch Method- ; ist Central Mission. Activities at the centre, ; which will be open daily except Mondays and Tuesdays, ; will be started as soon as , enough volunteers have been found to carry on each par- ’ ticular section. At a special dinner held recently to launch the new programme, Mr A. A. Ding- . wall, who presented the plan, ' said that it would aim to seek to be of service, to make • it possible for those not with- ; in the church to find a point of entry, to provide oppor--1 trinities for evangelism, and ' to demonstrate that Christ--1 ians were prepared to be in- ' volved in the world. The hours the house will be open will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, ! Thursdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to midnight on Fridays, and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays. The hours of the Darby and Joan Club for the elderly will be extended from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, and lon Saturdays there will be a I special invitation to families.
