A memorial plaque to the late Mr W. E. Desmond was unveiled by the patron of the New Zealand Rugby League Schoolboy Council (Mr L. R. Huston) at the Linwood clubrooms yesterday. The plaque, which was paid

for by schoolboy leagues throughout the country and made in New Zealand and the United States, commemorates the work done by Mr Desmond to foster schoolboy football. At the time of his death, he was patron of the council, the Canterbury

Rugby League and the Canterbury schoolboys’ board. With Mr Huston are Messrs T. J. Wellsmore (right), Canterbury’s delegate to the New Zealand senior council, and the president of the New Zealand Schoolboy Council, Mr L. A. Stuart (middle).
