Greeks’ Debts Written Off

ATHFtS, April 7.

The army-backed Greek Government has written off all debts owed by farmers to the Agrarian Bank from 1945 to April 21, 1967—the day the Army took over—the Agriculture Minister, Mr Alexandras Matthaiou, said today. He told reporters that the cancellation of the debts amounting to 7763 million drachmas was aimed at making Greek agriculture competitive and would benefit 643,884 farming families.
