Tennis Wins To Auck.

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Wellington slipped badly on the second day of the Wilding Shield men’s tennis challenge match against the holder, Auckland, yesterday, and Auckland retained the shield, 9-3. The Auckland women’s Nunneley Casket team easily repulsed a challenge from Hutt Valley, winning all their matches for a 12-0 victory. Wins by J. B. Souter and F. Scarlett in singles and doubles on Saturday enabled the Wellington men to hold Auckland to 3-3 on the first day. But the Aucklanders won every game yesterday, and only one, between the two leading players, Souter and K. Long, went to three sets. On the first day, Souter had beaten J. Lockington in a twohour match, 7-5, 8-6.
