Scallop Ban

(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, Mar. 17. In three months last year the Totara North-based Northern Fisheries Company processed 228,000 scallops dredged from Doubtless Bay. The company has been barred by the Marine Department from working the area this year because of objections raised by some local residents. Doubtless Bay is considered part of the Mangonui Harbour and comes into the restricted limits for commercial fishing.
