Suburbs could not match the local side in the forwards or in sharpness in the Canberra led, 11-3, at halftime, and late in the second half advanced to 25-3 before letting up to allow the visitors two tries. Australia’s new test wing. R. Batterhan, playing his first season in Canberra, had to leave the field with a leg injury after scoring the first 11 points —an outstanding try, a conversion and two penalty goals. Suburbs pointe were scored by S. Cron, R. Larsen (tries), D. Breese (penalty goal) and P. Carlson (conversion).

In a Boys’ Association cricket game in the Senior 1 grade, played on Saturday, Hagley High School 148/8 (Burrell 81; Studholme 3/33) beat Christ’s College 119/6 (Wright 34; Burrell 3/33, Gemmell 3/33) on the first innings.
