Accidents On Roads
Two Injured. When a pedestrian was struck by a power-cycle at the corner of Hereford Street and Fitzgerald Avenue about 10.20 p.m. on Saturday two persons suffered head injuries. The pedestrian, Charles Hankins, of 150 Fitzgerald Avenue, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Gary Stowell, of 54 Hooker Avenue, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Leg Injuries.—After his motor-cycle and a car collided outside his home at 71A Randolph Street about 4.45 p.m. on Saturday, Melvyn Chapman was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from leg injuries. Car Hits Pole.—When a car struck a pole at the corner of Hills Road and Hendon Street about 2.15 a.m. on Saturday two persons suffered head injuries. James Smith, of 167 Quinns Road, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital and Brian Soper, of 167 Quinns Road, was treated at the casualty department of the Christchurch Hospital. Cyclist Injured. William James Hallett, of 27 Diamond Avenue, was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from head injuries after a car and a cycle collided in Barrington Street about 7.20 p.m. on Saturday. Car Rolls Over—Three persons were injured when a car rolled over on the County Road, Amuri, on Saturday. George Popplewell, of Culverden, and Michael Carl, of Culverden, were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from head injuries. Denise Harker, of 12 Wairakei Road, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for head and arm injuries.
