Convolvulus

Sir, —It is good that someone has taken up the cudgels against this beautiful white devil, convolvulus. “Tidy” has brought to light that convolvulus is a noxious weed in the Christchrrch City Council district (also in Waimairi) and that inspectors exist, I presume, to inform known offenders who grow this noxious weed that they are liable. I have lived in homes where my experience has coincided with that suffered by “Tidy”; neighbours allow this obnoxious monstrosity to take possession of their premises and have no thought of its infiltration into adjacent gardens. Perhaps now they will be pricked in conscience and have a cleanup with the latest spray available. I once thought convolvulus to be impossible to eradicate tut have proved it can be killed and the once useless ground profitably used. —Yours, etc., TIDY 2. March 11, 1968.
