MEMORIAL SERVICE

Civic dignitaries and service representatives will attend the annual memorial service held by the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Antarctic Society to commemorate Captain R. F. Scott and his polar party in the Cathedral on March 31.

The service, at 7 p.m., will be conducted by Archdeacon H. S. Norris. The Very Rev. S. C. Read, minister of St Andrew’s Church, Wellington, and former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, will preach the sermon.

A member of the society, the Rev. J. F. B. Keith, of St Peter’s Church, Upper Riccarton, will lead the prayers. H M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, headquarters of the Canterbury division of the R.N.Z.N.V.R., will provide a colour party to parade the Terra Nova ensign.
