Exports By Swiss

fN.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. Mr Philippe Abravanel, 1968 president of Junior Chamber of Commerce International, was asked in an interview today if he could give a few pointers on increasing exports of manufactured gods, considering Switzerland’s success in that direction in spite of a shortage of local raw materials. Mr Abravanel said Switzerland had no raw materials at all—much less than New Zealand. She had to live by trade, and he understood she led New Zealand for top place in exports per capita. Switzerland had built her reputation on the accuracy of its manufactures, first watches, and then fine mechanical work and electronics. Switzerland had a most liberal customs system—probably the most liberal in the world—because it needed the reciprocal trade.
