New Zealand’s population had risen to 2,747,097 at December 31, 1967, after an increase of 12,808 in the De■ember quarter, and of 34,847 in the calendar year of 1967. according to the Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker). Corresponding increases for the December quarter and year of 1966 were 21,424 and 48.407: and for 1965 the increases were 20,195 and 46,873. Changes in the net gains from migration (total arrivals less total departures) were “sponsible for the smaller ’opulation increase. Compared with the 1965 migration tain of 9671 and a 1966 gain r f 11.997, a net migration loss of .3315 was recorded for 1967. There were 1,375,126 males and 1,371,971 females on December 31, with another 10 males each on the Campbell Islands and the Kermadec Islands. On September 30, 1967. 'here were 2573 males and ■-685 females on Niue Island, Ra total of 5258. On September ■ -4.1966, there were 892 males [ and 1008 females on the TokeI lau Islands, a total of 1900. On September 1, 1966, there were 9746 males and 9505 fe'"ales in the Cook Islands, a total of 19,251.
