Moore To Ride In Championship

The former world champion, R. Moore, will take a break from his wall-of-death tour of the North Island to compete in the New Zealand solo speedway championship at Templeton on Saturday. Moore, who failed to win the title last season when his motor cut out less than a quarter of a lap from the finish in the final, did not intend to compete this year because of his business commitments but at the eleventh hour found a gap in his programme.

He will have even tougher opposition than last season, but if his tremendous performance against the English test team was any indication

he should be more than equal to the task.

The present champion, H. Cole (England) will definitely defend the title he unexpectedly won last season, and the 41-year-old M. Neil (Auckland) who recently broke the track record at Western Springs, is as keen as anybody to take it from him.

Among the possible starters are F. Shuter, holder of every motor-cycle track record at Templeton; the New Zealand test riders, F. Timmo (Napier) and R. Andrews (Auckland); and another rider with overseas experience, C. McKee (Napier). The English test rider, R j Trigg, has withdrawn his entry because the Christchurch Speedway Association was not prepared to give him the considerable expenses he requested.
