NAPIER WOOL VALUES STEADY
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, January 26. Values on the second day of the Napier wool sale today were similar to those of Wednesday says the official report issued tonight.
Extra fine and fine crossbreds were unchanged, while medium and coarse crossbreds were inclined in buyers’ favour. Lambswool was very firm while second shear was in sellers’ favour.
36,327 bales were offered today. The offering was drawn from Hawke’s Bay, Gisborne, the East Coast and Taupo dis-
tricts and was similar in style and condition to the first day’s offering. Ewe Fleece
The ewe fleece was mostly well grown but a fair proportion was inclined to be tender close to the butt of the staple. The small quantity of hogget wool was generally sound of ‘staple while lambs wool which had been shorn early in the season was mostly of short length. Although there was some good coloured skirtings on offer the bulk was inclined to show discolouration due to seasonal conditions. Prompt day is February 13.
Competition was again well spread, the Continent and Eastern Europe being the principal buyers with support from the United States, Japan and local milk. Bradford was relatively quiet. Three catalogues totalling
