SALVATION ARMY

New Hall At St Albans The 58-year-old hall of the St Albans Corps of the Salvation Army, in Cranford Street, will be replaced by a new, larger hall which will be opened on February 10 by the chief secretary of the Salvation Army in jfew Zealand (Colonel A. E. Al biston. of Wellington). The new hall, which will provide accommodation for 175 persons, cost about $14,000. The divisional commander of the Canterbury and Westland division of the Salvation Army (Brigadier S. A Smith) said that the money for the hall had been raised by members of the corps. The old hall, which will be used for youth activities, was opened on April 29, 1910, by Colonel Albiston’s father, Brigadier T. Albiston, who was then provincial commander for the Salvation Army in the South Island. Mrs Albiston presented the first flag to the corps.
