Croquet Titles PRINCE STILL UNBEATEN
J. Prince, the winner of the New Zealand open championship, remained unbeaten throughout the national croquet championships to reach the semi-finals of the men’s title and, with Mrs B. A. Jarden, the final in both lives of the championship doubles.
In the quarter-final against C. Paynter, Prince scored yet another triple peel and quickly finished the match in straight games. He had earlier beaten A. E. Saalfeld with complete all-round breaks, giving his opponent few opportunities to score. Two former title-holders, Mrs C. J. Wadsworth and Mrs H. Purdy, were eliminated from the women’s championship.
