Fire In Police Station
A fire broke out in the toilet section of the motor accident branch in the Central Police Station, Hereford Street, soon after 1 a.m. today. The fire occurred where an old wooden building used as a store and carpenter's shop adjoins the stone section on the eastern frontage. Firemen had to cut through the wooden will to get at the seat of the fire. Dense clouds of smoke spread through the station building, and as firemen opened windows to inspect the building after the fire had been extinguished billows of smoke met them. Three machines from the Headquarters station answered the call. Minor damage was caused.
