‘TEST’ TO KIWIS
The Canterbury Kiwis under-21 cricket team scored a convincing nine-wicket victory about lunch-time on the last day of the “test” against Northern New South Wales Emu Colts at Tamworth. The Kiwis have now won the Boomerang Trophy for the third time in succession. Steady bowling by Canterbury bundled the Emus out for 120 in their first innings. Following-on 222 runs behind, the Emus were all out for 245. P. G. D’Auvergne took four wickets for 26 off 26 overs. Scores:—
Canterbury 342 and 26/1 (B. J. Patchett 14 not out) beat Northern New South Wales 120 (Cannon 36, Thatcher 18; I. M. Walter 3/14, D’Auvergne 3/30, C. deß. Galwey 3/37) and 245 (McKeough 60, Shelton 51, Cannon 44, Allen 23; D’Auvergne 4/26, D. W. Stead 4/50) outright by nine wickets.
