CATCHMENT CONTROL
N.C. Counties Affected ■ Seven North Canterbury counties would be affected by the requirement in the Water and Soil Conservation Act that all parts of New Zealand must be covered either by. catchment , boards or catchment commissions, the president (Mr R. H. Bedford) told a North Canterbury Federated Farmers’ executive meeting yesterday. “It’s over to our branches." he said, explaining that all or parts of Cheviot, Amuri, Wai|para, Kowai, Mount Herbert, Akaroa and Wairewa counties would have to comply with the act. “And there will be an increase in rates to cover another ad hoc body," said Mr B. W. Rodie. Mr S. J. S. Barker said the Hawarden - Waikari branch i proposed to call a meeting of other neighbouring branches to discuss the position.
