Died Without Finding Son

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. Mrs Mary Ann Newberry, who travelled the world three times in search of her missing son, died last Friday, aged 93, in an Auckland rest home without finding him. Mrs Newberry was born in Plymouth, England, and came to New Zealand in 1908. Her son, Reginald, was a boy soprano who trained under Madame Melba in Australia. He was known in Auckland as a “wonder boy.” Later, he became a classical singer and left New Zealand in 1932 to study in Italy. After two years the family lost touch with him and Mrs Newberry travelled in search of him.
