Ashley-Kowai Amalgamation

Sir, —I heartily endorse “Honesty’s” letter printed this morning. As one who also refused to sign a petition, 1 would like to add that the county has a very efficient county council in whose hands business matters between the two counties may be safely left. Mr Bowker has stated that the cost of a poll would be approximately $6OO. I would suggest that th"se who signed the petition also sign a cheque for $2 a head to pay the cost of such a poll. Why should the ratepayer pay for the mud stirred up by a few ignorant residents?—Yours, FAIR PLAY. January 24, 1968.
