Discrimination ?

Sir, —An Interesting question for you to ask the Traffic Department: why does a traffic officer mark cars in Liverpool Street this day, 11 a.m., and then ignore a Public Service vehicle (name on side, private car)? Is there an “understanding”?—Yours, etc., FAIR GO. January 15, 1968. [The traffic superintendent of the Christchurch City Council (Mr J. F. Thomas) replies: “The correspondent does not give a date to assist in the investigation and our records show that for the week beginning January 15. 1968. there were no traffic officers rostered to patrol Liverpool Street. Public Service vehicles are not exempt from parking restrictions except in cases of emergency and then this department is given prior notice. If full details could be given of this incident the matter would be investigated.”]
