Good Result Reported (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Jan. 23. G. J. Coles, Ltd, declared today a steady interim dividend of 4 per cent on ordinary shares (2c a 50c share), payable March 9; ex dividend February 6 The' directors said that notwithstanding the difficulties experienced during the halfyear, particularly the drougTit conditions in the southern states, they were pleased to report that results for the period in the variety stores and the food division have shown good increases in sales and profits. Christmas trading was again maintained at a high level. Expansion Plans “Plans for vigorous expansion of the company are in hand. During 1968 there are projected openings of 16 New World supermarkets, enlargment of several of the company’s variety stores and the opening of the new regional shopping centre at Whyalla, South Australia,” the directors said.
“At Victoria Square, in Adelaide, a major development containing 50 shops and our largest New World supermarket will open during the current half-year.”
