SYDNEY The market opened before a packed public gallery this morning with nickel stocks once more being the centre of attention. Metals Exploration opened at 502 c, down 88c on Monday’s last sale; the stock closed at 500 c. Western Mining closed 100 c higher at 400 c. V.A.M. gained 20c to 330 c on a long string of sales. MELBOURNE Activity in mining issues was the main interest in the
market. Rises were mostly moderate, while some key stocks eased. Western Mining eased early but closed sharply higher —l9oc up at 4090 c. Metals Exporation down 70c at 500 c, and Great Boulder also eased. Mount Isa moved up 29c to 516 c. Oils were irregular. Industrials generally continued iirm with most moves narrow Most notable moves were a drop of 20c to 1665 c for B.H.P. and gains of 46c to 950 c for Peko and 20c to 465 c for Philip Morris.
