KEELER TOWED

Man Hurt By Boom (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 22. A man who was injured aboard the keeler Cutty Sark in Cook Strait today received ambulance attention after the ocean racer was taken in emergency tow by the naval motor vessel Manga and brought to Wellington.

The keeler radioed the naval vessel after Mr T. Malden was hit on the elbow by the main boom. Lieutenant Commander G. A. Wright, commanding the Manga, decided not to attempt a transfer in the heavy seas and took the Cutty Sark in tow, passing morphine across the tow line. “It was quicker to be towed back than to tack,” said the skipper of the Cutty Sark, Mr B. Fleming. “We thought Trev had broken his arm.

“We were between Island Bay and Sinclair Head, returning from Picton, when it happened.” Mr Malden said that he was caught by surprise in heavy seas.
