BEATLES SLATED

Protests At TV Show (N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, December 27. British critics and hundreds of television viewers grumbled in protest today over a Beatles’ television spectacular that included a stripper and a medley of electric rock. “Blatant rubbish,” said one critic. Others complained that it was “a great big bore,” “tasteless nonsense” and “witless conceit”. The quartet romped for 50 minutes in a show directed and produced by them and entitled “Magical Mystery Tour”. 8.8. C. officials said afterwards they had been swamped by calls from viewers, almost all of them irate. However, they said the programme, which received a week of promotional publicity and drew one of the year’s biggest audiences, would be shown again in two weeks.
