Line May Stay Open (N.Z Press Association/ DUNEDIN, Dec 28 A hint that the HeriotEdievale railway line might be saved was given today by the Minister of Railways (Mr Gordon) who said it was possible that the track could he used for transporting logs between Beaumont and Bluff for shipment to Japan. Mr Gordon’s announcement came as he was taking part in festivities during what had been thought to be the last train trip between Heriot and Edievale. The minister said a decision to lift the tracks on the section had been deferred because of the possibility of a log trade between Beaumont and Bluff for Japan. “If the trade is to proceed 1 will be told in a month or six weeks.” Mr Gordon said he heard from a commercial interest which he declined to name about 10 days ago of its tentative purpose to use the line for transporting logs
