Sunfish Washed Ashore
A deep-sea sunfish, seldom seen in shallow waters, was washed ashore at Gore Bay yesterday. Measuring 40 inches in length and weighing about 901 b, it was found struggling in shallow water about 3.30 p.m., and was taken on to the beach by Mr J. R. Kofoed, of Oxford. The district inspector of; fisheries (Mr H. Jorgensen) who was called, said it was' the first sunfish he had seen] for 17 years. It was taken| to Kaikoura for study by Mr| L.
