Display Seen By 5000

About 5000 persons have visited the home of Mr R. H. Stillwell, in Selwyn Street, to see his Christmas display.] Among the visitors yesterday was a bus-load of British tour-j ists on a visit to the South Island.

The display includes a Japanese garden and a collection of about 500 dolls and animated toys. Mr Stillwell’s big night will be New Year's Eve, which he believes to be the night when children may stay up until midnight in a family group. He expects about 1000 persons to share New Year's Eve with him when, in addition to the Christmas display, there will be open-air films. The Riccarton Highland Pipe Band will arrive shortly before midnight to play “Auld Lang Syne." When the band leaves it will march down the street.
