CHANCE MOUNT

Jockey Has Easy Win (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. Royal Blue, a chance mount for the Riccarton jockey, G. W. Mein, easily won the Levels Handicap for hack stayers at Washdyke yesterday. J. R. Dowling had been en gaged for the Riccarton four year-old but he stood down because he was being bothered by a poisoned finger. Mein had Royal Blue going nicely in the middle of the field in the middle stages and there was not much doubt that he would win when Mein allowed him to lengthen stride coming to the home turn. Royal Blue dashed past Autobank outside the furlong and won running away by three lengths from Coral Prince. Autobank was three-quarters of a length back third, beating the faster-finishing Blind Date by a neck.
