Govt Posts For Youths

(N.Z. Press Association?

BLENHEIM, Dec. 10. More jobs in the public service are to be created to accommodate its normal number of school leavers—even if some of the positions are surplus at first, the acting chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Government Administration (Mr Shand) said today. Mr Shand said the Government had approved a supernumerary budget for the employment of more than 400 school leavers. About onethird of the positions would be in Wellington, he said. “Naturally, the public service wishes to recruit the best qualified and, where appropriate, a minimum of school certificate or an almost certain pass in that examination, is being required from applicants.”
