UNION SEEKS N.Z. LINE

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Dec. 10.

The New Zealand Seamen’s Union was still campaigning vigorously for a national shipping line to serve the interests of this country, said the Wellington assistant secretary of the union (Mr T. Adams) in a statement issued today denying the speech by the Minister of Marine (the Hon. W. J. Scott), who claimed he had weaned the union away from this objective. Although the union was getting a great deal of public support in this drive for a national shipping company, the union was realistic enough to work with any group prepared to break the Conference Lines stranglehold on the New Zealand economy, said Mr Adams.
