AVIEMORE INSPECTED.—The Minister of Works, Mr Allen (middle), and the Commissioner of Works, Mr P. L. Laing (right), have inspected construction progress on the Aviemore hydro-electric project on the Waitaki River. They are shown by the concrete dam with the Ministry of Works engineer in charge of site construction, Mr S. M. J. Smith. Aviemore is scheduled to generate power next winter, and building costs are well within the estimate of $44m.
