POISONOUS FUMES

Firemen wearing breathing apparatus yesterday disposed of a drum of chemicals giving off heavily toxic fumes at the Radley Mills, Cumnor Terrace, Woolston.

The drum, of sodium hydrosulphide. was inside the mill building when it began to decompose. The chemicals began giving off fumes. The fire brigade was called at 11.40 a.m., and firemen moved the drum into the open. They later immersed the drum and chemicals in a tank of water to prevent any further dangerous reaction.
