Goods Train Derailed
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Dec. 3. The Main Trunk line was closed for 4] hours this morning by a goods train derailment between Porotarao and Waimiha, 28 miles north of Taumarunui. The 160 north-bound passengers on the Wellington-to-Auckland express were delayed at OXahukura, seven miles north of Taumarunui, for between two and three hours until special buses could take them on to Auckland. The New Plymouth-to-Auck-land rail-car was also held up for two hours until the line was cleared shortly after 8.30 a.m. A spokesman for the Railways Department said that although the goods train was not damaged, an inquiry would be held to determine the cause of the accident.
