Judges Appointed For Appeal Case
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Appeal judges appointed by the president of the New Zealand Racing Conference (Mr R. A. Whyte) will hear appeals in the Court Rapid case at Wellington on December 7. The appeals have been lodged by the Rotorua Racing Club against decisions of the Waikato District Committee.
Court Rapid finished first in the Spring Handicap at the Rotorua Racing Club’s meeting on October 21, but at a sub* sequent inquiry was relegated to fourth by the club’s judicial committee on the grounds of causing interference, to Captain Lancaster, which finished fourth.
Court Rapid’s rider, G. R. Edge, was suspended for two riding days by the judicial committee.
A subsequent appeal by the owner of Court Rapdd, Mrs H. Coulter, against the relegation
was upheld by the Waikato District Committee, which decided that the judge’s original placings should stand. The district committee also reviewed the two-day suspension of Edge and annulled the penalty. The Rotorua club is appealing against both these decisions of the district committee.
