School Elections
Difficulties in primary school committee elections, caused by nominations being received in writing a week beforehand and also from the floor of householders’ meetings, will be considered again by the Canterbury Education Board at its February meeting. Yesterday, through the Education Boards* Association, it received a recommendation from the New Zealand School Committees’ Federation that those nominated in writing be declared to be elected if there were not surplus numbers and that any remaining vacancies be filled at meetings. The federation suggested that good members, nominated in writing in proper form, were often unseated by persons casually nominated at the last minute.
