Japanese Race For Ryan

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Commonwealth marathon bronze medallist, M. Ryan, of Tokoroa, will compete in a 5000 or 10,000-metre race in Tokyo six days after he races in the Japanese Open Marathon at Fukuoka on December 3. The N.Z.A.A.A. spokesman said today that both Ryan and the New Zealand marathon champion, D. C. McKenzie, of Greymouth, had been invited to compete at the Tokyo meeting on December 9. McKenzie had declined the the invitation to compete at Tokyo, but would race in the marathon.
