Bid To Settle Question Mr B. Henning, of Christchurch, has sent his family tree to the American Ambassador to New Zealand (Mr J F. Henning) in Wellington in a further effort to determine whether there is a relationship between them. Miss L. Henning said last night that the family tree began with William the Conqueror and travelled down three branches until it reached William Henry Henning and Charles Masterman Henning, who came to New Zealand in 1863 and lived in Akaroa.

The Ambassador's paternal great-uncle came to New Zealand about 100 years ago and first settled in Onehunga. His American relatives eventually lost track of him. Mr William Henning, father of Mr B. Henning, died in 1935. aged 90. His brother. Charles, was a solicitor tn Akaroa. William Henning died in 1935 at the age of 90.
