Kettle Used In Assault
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 7. An unemployed workman charged with assaulting a Penrose householder in order to escape after having committed a crime, pleaded guilty before Mr H. Rosen, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate's Court today. Paul David Rush, aged 22, was said by Sergeant L. D. Sinton to have struck the householder with a halffilled kettle. Rush appeared on a total of seven charges, including one of having in his possession by night instruments capable of being used for ourglary. He also admitted three charges of breaking and entering and two of car conversion. He was convicted on all seven charges and remanded in custoday until November 15 for a probation report and sentence.
Rush told the court be would not have committed the offences if he had not been “on the dole.”
