Changes To Programme

"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. The Auckland Trotting Cup will be run this year on the third night of the Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting at Alexandra Park, on Decern ber 30. The stake for the cup has been increased by $lOOO to $ll,OOO and a cup valued at $2OO.

The running of the Auckland Trotting Cup on the third nighl also means it will now be possible to run an Auckland Cup-Auckland Trotting Cup T.A.B. double.

The secretary of the Auck land Racing Club, Mr W. N. Mackie, said yesterday his club had approved in principle the running of the double.

The third-night staging of the cup is only one of several ex cellent changes to the threenight programme. On the third night the Rowe Memorial, the main northern event for trotters, will carry a stake of $4OOO and a cup valued at $l5O. Last year the race was worth only $2700.

A new event on the third night is the New Zealand Juvenile Championship, run over a mile, with a stake of $3OOO. The Great Northern Pacing Derby, on the same evening, has been increased in value from $2400 to $4OOO.

Other new events on the programme are the National Flying Pace (first night) and the New Zealand Messenger (second night).
