LINCOLN APPEAL
Lincoln College’s residential buildings appeal for $350,000 has now reached $210,000. Donations are being received at the rate of $3OOO a day.
Thirty regional committees embracing 750 workers are operating from Whangarel to Invercargill. In North Canterbury the Culverden region has now achieved 120 per cent of its target, Ellesmere “B” 80 per cent and Christchurch city 70 per cent. Southland is on 75 per cent of its target and North Otago on 65 per cent. In the North Island, Hawke’s Bay has achieved 139 per cent of its target and North Auckland 63 per cent. The national president of the college old students’ association, Mr M. Rogers, said yesterday that old students were contributing to the appeal in a very high proportion to their numbers, “This seems to show that students who had the benefit of ‘living in’ at Lincoln appreciate the value of the halls of residence in training young men for the land,” he said.
