Applicants should have served a mechanical or electrical fitting apprenticeship. Experience in marine engineering, in the operation or maintenance of rotating plant or steam equipment an advantage. Training will, be given for Shift Operator duties involving main auxiliary boilers and steam turbo-alter, nators; otherwise standard duties will include operating and maintaining auxiliary plant and equipment associated with feed water and fuel oil supply and with cooling water pumps and equipment. Marsden Power Station has two 120 megawatt turboalternators with two oil fired boilers; steam conditions 1525 Ibs/sq. in. 1005 F deggres. Nominal salary for an Operator Fitter is $2210 p.a. but gross remuneration will be greater due to the payment of shift allowances and some overtime. Normal Public Service annual leave, paid sick leave, and superannuation privileges are available. The Power Station is located on the sea front at Bream Bay, 30 miles by road south-east of Whangarei.
