SUMMONS ISSUED
Voyager Inquiry (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright; SYDNEY, Oct 12. The editorial adviser of the Melbourne newspaper “Truth,” Mr Stanley Cecil Chandler, has been charged with having failed to answer a question at the Voyager inquiry, now sitting in Sydney. The summons issued by the Special Federal Court, Sydney, was served on Mr Chandler in Melbourne. It refers to Section 6 of the Royal Commissions' Act and alleges that he failed to answer a question put to him by a commissioner at the in-
quiry last Thursday. On that day the chairman of the commission, Sir Stanley Burbury, said it was most material that the commission should know who gave Mr Chandler information for a story about Captain Duncan Stevens, the commander of the ill-fated Voyager, which said he was so drunk in Hong Kong once that a party of ratings had to carry him aboard the Voyager. Mr Chandler had told the commission: “With regret and with respect, I cannot give the information. I have given my word not to do so.”
