CAIRO, October 12.
South Arabia’s rival nationalist groups, F.L.05.Y. and the N.L.F. have reached agreement on national unity and the formation of an interim government, a delegation source said in Cairo.
F.L.O.S.Y. (the Front for the Liberation of
Occupied South Yemen) and the N.L.F. (the National Liberation Front)
reached the agreement in Cairo last night at their second meeting.
The two organisations met to try to form a unified
body to prepare for the independence of South Arabia, to
be granted by Britain by January 9. F.L.O.S.Y. expelled from its
leadership council on Tuesday three members regarded by the N.L.F. as defectors
from their own ranks. The N.L.F had refused to sit at a conference table with the three men, Mr Taha Mokbel, Mr Ali Mohammed Alsalami and Mr Salem Zien Mohammed.
They joined F.L.O.S.Y. after the 1966 N.L.F. split from the Egyptian-backed organisation. In a statement on the expulsions, F.L.O.S.Y. said it recognised the independent existence of the N.L.F. and was negotiating with it on this basis.
