Gingerbread Shapes Well In Training
If Gingerbread’s performance at Orari tomorrow matches two of her runs in training this week, she should take beating in the first leg of the Geraldine Racing Club’s T.A.B. double.
Gingerbread (Miss L. Mc- • Phee) completed her preparation for the Members’ Handicap with an outstanding seven-furlong gallop on the plough at Riccarton yesterday. Her Imin 27 3-ssec was the best of the morning for the distance. She was easing towards the end but that was to be expected for she had . run the first three in 37sec and the opening half-mile in 49 2-ssec. Krazikid and Running Scared, stablemates with engagements at Trentham tomorrow, were also responsible for very good gallops. Running Scared <E. G. Low) pulled away from Royal Master <J. G. Dulieu) and Jes Tar (N. T. Cowles) near the end. of a fast-run seven furlongs. Their sectional times were 36 1-5 for the first three and 40 4-ssec for the opening four. At the finish, in Imin 28sec. Running Scared was out by a length and a half. Krazikid (E. G. Low) reeled off half a mile with Royal Blue <A. Stammers) in 47 2-ssec. Ric carton's Shorts Handicap hope had a slight lead at the end. Sabell <J. Kerkvliet) and Sir Limond (D. R. Tucker), rivals for the Members’ Handicap at Orari, were abreast and three lengths clear of Lady Velvet (N. Barnes) after a mile on the trial grass in Imin 42sec, the final half in 51 l-ssec. On the same track Time and Tide, a fit contender for the Wellington Handicap tomorrow, :
ran his solo mile in Imin 43 2-ssec. He came the last half in 50sec and the final three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. He had his race rider, A. J. Stokes, up. Next Please (R. B. Taggart) led Coseta (E. G. Low) by a length and a half at the end of their mile in Imin 43sec. the final half in 50 l-ssec. Next Please will be trying to keep a winning record intact in the October Handicap at Trentham tomorrow. Other Gallops Other gallops were: On the Grass.—Overnight (A. Reuben), Mr Raad (G. W. Mein) and Submerge (D. R. Tucker), last four of seven furlongs together in 52 2-ssec: Seminole (D. R. Tucker) and Kalimera (N. T. Cowles), last four of six together in 50 l-ssec; Conciliation (M. King), half a length to Vickie Marie (G. R. Gullery), after half a mile in 51 3-ssec: Equal Chance (D. R. Tucker) and Dolly Varden (P. Smith), three furlongs together in 38sec.
