“The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Banagh was the most impressive gallopher at Awapuni yesterday when Trentham candidates completed their final trials. Banagh ran six furlongs in fine style but after the gallop his trainer, N. D. Eales, said that the gelding would not start in the October Intermediate unless there was rain to soften the Trentham track. Laramie. Palamos and Serena were all responsible for good trials. On the course proper, Banagh was going very easily beside Tuskar Rock at the end of six furlongs in 1:18 2-5, the last three in 39sec. Banagh left the impression that he could have improved on the time. Sasinaz surprised when she appeared to be doing better than Serena at the end of a mile in 50 3-ssec, the last three in 37 2-ssec.
Ina Court and the Guineas candidate, Winning Words, ran five furlongs in Imin 9 l-ssec. the last three in 41 4-ssec.
On the plough, Laramie had plenty in reserve when be beat Tarim at the end of six furlongs in Imin 20sec. They went easily for a start but ran the last three in 38 4-ssec. On the inside trial. Might showed brilliance to run five furlongs in Imin 2 2-ssec, the last three in 36 3-ssec. NORTH CANTERBURY RACING CLUB INC.
