SPANIARDS AT POLLS
(N.Z.P A -Reuter —Copyright; MADRID, October 11. Early results today in Spain’s first democratic elections under General Franco reflected moderate public support in big cities and a heavy provincial vote. The Parliamentary elections are the first by direct suffrage since General Francisco Franco took power in the 1936-39 Civil War.
Provisional figures announced showed Madrid and Barcelona declared a turnout of about 50 per cent, the Basque city of San Sebastian —scene of anti-regime demonstrations last May-Day—only 33 per cent, and provincial towns, such as Burgos and Lugo, up to 80 per cent
