Aborigines Want Film
(Special Crjpdt. N.Z.P A ) SYDNEY, Oct. 10. Nomadic desert Aborigines in Western Australia have asked for a copy of a film taken of their ceremonies by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies so that it can be used to instruct initiates.
The chairman of the institute, Professor N. W. G. Macintosh, said in his annual report that there was keen appreciation among Aborigines of the permanent value of film records.
“When shown the films they show an undisguised pride in their performances,” he said. “The films are helping to foster a just pride in their ritual life.”
