ONLY THE OBSCENE

(Special Crspdt. NZ.PA) LONDON, September 19. A library of banned obscene books for members of Parliament to refer to has been started in secret in the last three months by the Home Office, according to a report in the “Daily Telegraph.” “Permission was sought from the Director of Public Prosecutions to start the library. It contains books which have been the subject of a successful prosecution under the Obscene Publications Act.

“If a Court fails to declare a book obscene it does not get into the library.” Use of the library was strictly reserved for members. In the past thev had found it difficult to obtain copies of obscene books they had to debate in the House of Commons.
